HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET FIT
I get asked this regularly, how long till I am fit? Well the answer isn't quite that simple. Everyone has their own version of FIT, for some it's being able to run more then 5 minutes, being able to chase their kids, getting muscle and strength gains, losing weight, running a marathon, completing a triathlon or being able to do CrossFit RXD. These perceptions are different to everyone and their individual goal.
The dictionary says that fitness means the condition of being physically fit and healthy.
If you are new to exercise or starting a new fitness program to improve your fitness we recommend that you need to allow yourself 6-8 weeks, training 3-4 times a week to start seeing the results and your fitness improve. A big part of being fit is whether you are consistent with your program and fuelling your body to allow it to recover better, become stronger and healthier. If you are good every second week and not every other then the process is going to take you at least twice as long till you reap the benefits. Find a program you enjoy and stick with it.
At CrossFit Moreton Bay our clients notice a difference around the three week mark, when running becomes easier, the weight they can lift starts to increase and they understand the movements and as they flow together easier means more repetitions and increasing fitness. At 6 - 8 weeks clients tell me they are feeling fitter, clothes are loser and they are feeling good, friends and family start to notice a good change physically and mentally.
We recommend that if you stick to a program for a minimum 6-8 weeks you will be feeling fitter, stronger & healthier.
So their isn't an exact answer to how long does it take to get fit? You will need to decide how fit you want to be and plan your goals with a coach or a training buddy. They may range from 6-8 weeks, 6 months or two years. Being fit is hard work whichever level you are aiming for, so set your goals high and go get them.
Consistency and determination is everything.
