How to stay focused this winter
More often than not we find it more difficult to keep up the workouts in the cooler months. We all know how easy it is to stay in bed, waking up at 5am to an alarm when it's cold and dark isn't really ideal but you do it all summer no problems, so don't let a little bit of cold weather ruin your routine.
The only thing you need to change this winter is your mindset and the rest will fall into place. You need to remind yourself of the benefits of training and how you feel once your workout is done. Most of our clients find CrossFit helps lower stress levels, better sleeping, keeping healthy and keeping our waistline in check so we can still enjoy those hearty winter meals.
So here's our top tips for staying focused this winter:
Set goals - Like anytime of the year if you have a goal you will be more likely to be consistent with your training and in return reap the results. Summer is less then 4 months away and we will be back at the beach.
Get a coach - So if you know you are going to need that extra nudge this winter, save yourself the harsh words and hire a PT. They will keep you in check, accountable and on track with your goals. When the alarm goes off at 5am, you gotta go, they will be waiting for you.
Meal prep - The best way to keep your eating in check is to have a meal plan. Since your going to be setting your goals it only seems appropriate to have a meal plan to get you there quicker. You can’t out train a bad diet.
Find a training buddy - Having a friend to meet at the box means accountability and no sleeping in, you know if you don't show you will get the dreaded text 'I can't believe you didn't come, you missed the best WOD'. Keep each other on track, no excuses.
Reward yourself - So you have achieved your goals, stayed on track and feeling good about it? Well its time to reward yourself! When I say reward yourself - I mean enjoy a massage, new WOD gear or a trip to the movies. Don't use food as a reward tool, shift the focus and don't undo those fantastic results.
