JETTY TO JETTY WRAP UP 2017

Jetty to Jetty Wrap Up!!

Wow! What an amazing day it was Sunday was to be apart of, despite the early morning challenges it turned out to be a beautiful day and I don’t know about you guys but getting to the top of that first hill and looking at the sun bouncing off that glassy water was just spectacular!

💨☔️The morning definitely had its challenges with the rain and wind that decided to come in overnight. Fun was not what Brett and Jessica (Jess) had on their minds when they were setting up the stall in the wee hours of the morning, nor our Half Marathon runners starting off in the wind and rain, Andrew DaviesJames Smith and Kristy Haylock, FULL CREDIT to you all for showing the mental strength to get up, get going and get to that start line!!
21.1km is definitely no easy task and all of you put in the work and finished the run no matter how many challenges you might have had in the lead up. Congratulations to James Smith and Kristy Haylock for completing your first ever Half Marathon! James in a time of 1:56:32, Kristy in 2:00:48 and Andrew completed it in 1:45:37!!

🇺🇸 Andrew and Kristy will travel to America to complete the New York FULL MARATHON in just 16 weeks time. Both will have some serious kilometers to be done in the weeks ahead.

🌤 Luckily for the rest of the distances (and Brett and Jess) the weather eased and the sun came out just in time for the 10km starters to get on their way.

🚽 Pee stops were a plenty before the race and one interesting encounter for the girls waiting at the portaloos with a lady proclaiming…..”I didn’t think CrossFitters ran???” Well you can imagine Run Coach Kristy’s face and a reply of……”I’m working on that one!!’’.

🏃KylieJennifer (Pixie), KristinaMandyGavin and myself all lined up at the 10km start line and took on the first hill….just to hurt those legs before you even begin. It wasn’t long before we started to pass some of the 21km runners on their way back in which no doubt had us all jealous they were close to finishing and we were just heading out!!

🏃Mandy and Gav kept the pace high for everyone leading out the 10km with Gav’s second half of the race over a minute faster in the second 5km….proud coach moment….great pacing Gav, pushed it home! Gav finished in 51:34mins. Always versatile Mandy smashed out her 10km in a time of 53:04min ...that’s 5min 18sec a kilometre, which is super impressive for not ‘training’ for this event specifically.

🏃Always effervescent Kylie pumped through her 10km run in 1:08:31. Kylie loves a good long run and averaged 6:51mins per kilometre. It was noted Kylie publicly displayed her ‘love’ of running on Facebook….and I will be ‘running’ (totally intended pun) with that anytime she looks like giving me that Kylie sarcasm about the running WOD or flipping me the bird.

🏃Yummy Mummies, Kristina and Jen (Pixie) finished the 10km in 1:15:59. These impressive ladies stuck together for the entire run, laughing, smiling, flashing….yes FLASHING onlookers and all only 4-5 months post baby number 2. Great effort ladies!

🏃Run Club regulars, Kym and Tanya both headed off at about 8:45am for their 5km runs. Both of them scorched through the course….Kym finishing in under the 30min mark at 29:25!! That’s less than 6 mins per kilometre Kym! Awesome work!
Tanya has only recently started with us at Run Club and always gives it 110%. Tanya finished her 5km in 37:30min! Tanya that is truly amazing work, you are both so committed to bettering your running and it’s great to see you work towards your goals and achieve them!

🏃To finish off the day the 3km challengers took off at 9:00am, the Vanilla Gorilla (aka Michael B West) who looooves his running **insert sarcasm** took Cooper and Koby on their first Jetty to Jetty experience and from what I have seen of some of the photos…..the boys definitely weren’t being out paced by Dad!!

🏃Cooper finished his 3km run in 14:52mins…..ummmm thats 4:57mins per kilometre people!! Under 5min kilometers for such little legs…..at that age…..soooo good Coops! Well done!

🏃Koby finished his 3km in under 20mins at 19:29mins again Koby is a couple of years younger than Cooper so completing 3km is an awesome result!

🚶🏻Westy, I know this was 2.8 kilometers more than you like to run. But great work doing it for the Dads, it was awesome to see you guys as a family, showing your boys how good it is to be apart of an event like the Jetty to Jetty. Westy finished alongside Koby at 19:29mins.

📸 Don't forget to check out the pics from the official photographer for the day, there is some great shots in there….as you can see.

👏 I have a few Thank You’s to say before I sign off on the Jetty to Jetty for 2017. A massive THANK YOU to Brett and Jess for supporting the CFMB Run Club and having a stall down at the Healthy Living Expo. It would not have been easy in the weather, the distance you had to travel and the work to be done for the morning, so Thank You so much from Run Club for doing all of that for us. It means we have somewhere to warm up, mobilise, a place to meet, have a chat, have a coffee and leave our stuff somewhere safe. Not only does it do all those things for the runners, it also allows us to be in the atmosphere, showing off our amazing community which may not all LOVE running but we love health and fitness and getting ourselves out there in community events.

👏 Thank you to those members who popped in to support our runners! Your support was much appreciated!

👏 And a massive THANK YOU and WELL DONE to everyone who has attended Run Club in the last 12 months and those who completed the Jetty to Jetty this year. It is truly such a rewarding experience to help you all each and every week to be versatile and more all round athletes. I love watching you tackle the workouts put in front of you and improve yourselves each and every week.

🏃💪Here’s to another 12 months of bettering ourselves as athletes, to be the best version of ourselves we can be!!
