Master League 2017

So another year of Master League qualifier rounds is over. This event has been run now over the last few years and gets bigger and bigger each year. With thousands of over 35's from all over the world competing in this online event the standard of workouts and competitors is high.

The workouts are released every Friday over 4 weeks (so 4 workouts) with athletes having 1 week to attempt the workout and log their scores. The top 8-10 in each age group category receive an invite to the invitationals held out at Ipswich at the end of June.

We had over 15 of our athletes compete in the Master league this year with 7 masters athletes making it to the invitationals, which will probably be the highest amount for any one CrossFit box!

Our amazing masters coach Naomi Steine organised the workouts to be done every Saturday afternoon and we had most of our athletes get together, score each others workouts, cheer each other on (most people bought their families in too) and then stay for a beer afterwards (they are a social bunch!!) We even had some outside Masters athletes come in to workout with us so they could work out in an amazing atmosphere. Was great for everyone to hang around after the last Saturday workout for some drinks PLUS a BBQ.

Our Masters group has now grown to over 20 athletes who support each other, have fun, train hard and love the Masters social atmosphere. Coach Naomi runs our Masters class every Thursday night and it is consistently one of our busiest classes each week, and yes you need to show ID at the door to get in!

If you would like to know more about the Masters League run by Joe Riego - read on

The Masters League looks to support athletes and celebrate their achievements by inviting them to compete and realize their full potential. The Masters League prides itself on providing a fun and fair playing field encouraging good sportsmanship, camaraderie and of course a thriving, supportive community.Members can compete at any level, beginner through to advanced, we believe hard work should be recognized at every level and everyone should have their chance to shine. The masters category within our sport is thriving yet there are still too few opportunities to compete, the Masters League will motivate you to train towards winning a good place in your division and also the chance to promote yourself to the next division the following year.

Our competitions are fun, non-intimidating and the needs of masters athletes have been carefully reflected in our programming. Factors that influence training and performance are carefully considered; busy lives, family commitments and recovery. For example, we provide plenty of time to perform the open workouts and competitions are 1-day family friendly events.
