CLARE MOLONY
Tell us about you? - age/nicknames/background
My name is Clare Novena Molony, I am 36 years of age. Nicknames are Clare Bear/CB/Stalker/Bigbird. I was conceived in New Zealand born in Melbourne Vic and lived my whole life on the beautiful Gold Coast.
I have played Netball since I was 7 years old and it has always been my passion.
I had an awesome childhood until I turn 16 when my dad committed suicide. This turned my life upside down. I was anorexic from the age of 19 till about 21. Where I had chest pains in my chest. Was sent to the hospital to get help. I then became addicted to crystal meth for a good 8 years or so and any other drug I could het my hand on to ease the pain of losing my number 1 idol who was my biggest supporter in my netbal my dad. I was in a bad relationship for 10 years where I than meet my future fiancé Scott Frost who got me into counselling for 3 years and also introduce me to crossfit. Now I am so happy with the life I have with Scott and my 2 fur babies Hamish and Skye. The rest is history.
What did you do fitness wise before CrossFit?
I used to train for Netball and also I was at Momentum Performance Centre on the Gold Coast with my personal trainer Wade back then. We used to do crossfit style workouts but it wasn't crossfit back than.
Why CrossFit?
I love the competitiveness. Being a Aries I love competition and it also has help me with my netball significantly. All though saying that being 6 foot 3 really is a disadvantage in crossfit so I must really love the challenge since I continue to do it.
What results have you seen while at CFMB
Massive results. Number is eating. Having a eating disorder I can not explain how hard mentally it is to eat food. There is always that thought or that voice in the back of your head telling you not to eat it. So doing crossfit I notice that i must fuel my body in order just to complete a workout. I feel a lot fitter than i ever did and everyone still thinks I am 26 so it must be making me look younger ha ha ha.
Favorite exercise?
Uummmm.......WALL BALLS
Least favorite?
Eveything else.
Favorite food/?
Chocolate and Peanut Butter
Who or what inspires you?
I would have to say my mum. For what she has been thru in the last 20 years with her losing her partner and having to raise 3 teenage kids all by herself. That lady needs a medal. Also losing a few of her brothers and sisters as well (she comes from a family of 10 children)
Advice to new comers?
You can scale anything. You do not have to be fit to start crossfit. If you can walk than you can do crossfit. I tell everyone about crossfit and the reaction is always "I am not fit enough to do crossfit" Try it give it a go you never know you may like it and if you don't oh well you can try something else.
