Do you lead by example?
So you have started CrossFit.
Some of your friends and family will get behind you and support you with only great things to say, but there may be some people in your life that sing a different song. A song of nay and negativity.
This is your time to shine. You have a responsibility to those who haven’t figured it out that Crossfit is literally helping hundreds of thousands of people across the world every day to live happier, healthier lives.
This is your time to show those people what a little hard work, motivation, a proven program and surrounding yourself with a supportive community can do for a person.
This is your time to be responsible. Those of you that have already been setting an example for some time now - thank you! You have surely affected the lives of onlookers for the positive. Your peers at the box are included in your onlookers and are admiring your approach.
You may have been in a situation where you’ve been a poor role model, examples being:
Cherry picking WODs
Not taking mobility seriously
Bagging the program without knowing what the program is
Cutting reps
Having a bad workout and acting like it's the end of the world
Not taking the time to support others
Poor personal hygiene
I URGE YOU TO SET THE EXAMPLE and show the onlookers it’s ok to scale WOD’s and have a bad day. It's not about the numbers on the board but the effort you put in, day in and day out. Give everything to the workouts and results will follow, I promise you. You have the opportunity to change people's lives by bettering your own.
It's your choice whether to be a good example or a poor one.
