Athlete of the month - Scott Beale
Tell us about you ? - age/nicknames/background
I'm 41 years old , my nickname is Bealey and I'm a Mechanic by trade working for Suncorp Insurance as a Motor Vehicle Assessor
What did you do fitness wise before CrossFit ?
I have tried all sorts of sports but played Rugby League from the age of 12 as a junior and played right through 10 years of senior rugby league until retiring at 28 years old from injury.
Why CrossFit ?
I needed to get back into some sort of fitness and tried the regular gym and hated it , I found it boring and hated the atmosphere , Crossfit got suggested to me and I didn't think I'd be able to do it , I had an existing injury and I'd heard it was just too intense,
But I got convinced to try it any way, 6 years later and I still love it
What results have you seen while at CFMB
The results I have seen since I have been at CFMB have been huge in all areas, over the last few years my weightlifting technique has improved and all my lifting and squat weight have increased dramatically, my gymnastic movements and cardio have improved and most recently through our 6 week challenge and after I have lost abot 9 kilos.
Favourite exercise ?
Snatch , I love the Olympic weightlifting movements but I love the technical aspect of the Snatch
Least favourite
I still hate burpees , I don't think anything will ever change the way I feel about them
Favourite Food
Is beer classed as food ? If not I really do like seafood
Who or What inspires you ?
The people that inspire me in my training the most are the people I train with everyday , we go through the highs and lows together and there is nothing better than seeing the joy of those people achieving something that you have watched them work so hard for , whether they are new or more experienced Crossfitters seeing them perform a movement they didn't think they ever could inspires you to achieve the same.
Advise to new comers ?
Trust the process , concentrate on the movement not the speed or weight of it , once the movement is right the speed and weight will just come naturally , look at how far you have come not how far you are behind or in front of anybody else.
