Coach Brett has been a CrossFitter for over 12 years and still loves it every day. When we asked Brett why he loves being a coach he said “I love helping people to achieve things they never thought possible, that first pull up, that first 5k run, or that first body weight squat, it is just an awesome feeling for me as a coach to have. To be able to motivate, educate and entertain people while they reach their health and fitness goals is the reason I get up in the morning! And finally the Crossfit community, there is almost nothing like it. I mean where can you go where all the coaches know everyones name, everyone motivates everyone when working out and everyone is just so positive and happy"

Brett and his partner Jess live and promote a healthy lifestyle with family of 2 boys and love to meet and train new people.

Mat Davies // CrossFit coach // Weightlifting coach

G’day, I’m Mat. I started Crossfit over 10 years ago at Crossfit Moreton Bay in 2012. Before CrossFit I had focused on traditional isolation style of lifting weights to build muscle, but realised how much stronger, fitter and mobile i became after doing functional movements of CrossFit.

I competed in a range of sports in my youth, at National level in marathon Kayaking and Judo, and state level swimming.

After years of not a lot of physical activity and a sedentary office job, I gained over 30kg and by following the CrossFit program and keeping a keen eye on nutrition I lost 30kg in less than 8 months.

Since then I developed an interest in Olympic lifting, which I’ve continued to develop in coaching skills.

I am on a continuous journey looking to improve my health and coaching ability.

One of the most exciting things about coaching is when you see a massive difference in lifting from a small tweak in an athletes technique. When they get it, You see the light switch on, and know they have a better understanding of the movement and can work safely towards their individual goals.

Olympic lifting is a journey not a sprint and I love seeing athletes improvements from corrections in technique. But the best thing about Crossfit Moreton Bay is the supporting, encouraging and enthusiastic community.

Mat’s Qualifications include:

• Crossfit level 1 trainer

• Burgener Strength Level 1/Crossfit Weightlifting Level 1

• CrossFit Moreton Bay Coaches Development Program

• Current first Aid and CPR Certificate

• Blue card working with children

Liam Hill // Crossfit coach // Run coach

Hi Im Liam and I was never athletic before finding CrossFit. Aside from occasionally playing soccer and some cycling, I had never found any forms of exercise enjoyable.

That all changed when I became a member at CFMB in 2018. I knew within my two weeks that I had found something I loved. Since then CrossFit has taken over a lot of my time, my bookshelf, my YouTube subscriptions, my podcast feeds, my wardrobe and my trainer collection. I have trained as much as I can and devoured as much information as I can hold on to because I really enjoy it.

This is the most exciting thing about training to become a coach at CFMB. I can’t wait to learn more, both at the box and at home, and then share what I’m learning with all our members to help them achieve their goals and lead fitter, stronger and healthier lives.

One of my favourite things is being asked a question to which I don’t know the answer, I’ll do my best to find out and maybe even give the solution a little test drive. CFMB is my “happy place”, I’ve made great friends and I’ve achieved so much here that I thought was impossible for me: lifting heavy weights, climbing a rope, running long distances and more.

I look forward to being part of such an amazing and welcoming place and helping everyone just like they’ve helped me.

Liam’s Qualifications include:

  • Crossfit level 2 trainer

  • Queensland Athletics Level 1 Run Leader

  • CrossFit Moreton Bay Coaches Development Program

  • Current first Aid and CPR Certificate

  • Blue card working with children

Tara McCarthy // CrossFit Coach

Hey there, I’m Tara.

I’ve been doing Crossfit since 2018 where I joined CFMB. Crossfit has been a big part of my life ever since.

To begin with, it was the community that drew me in, then it was the individual cues in my technique, which grew into tracking my scores and pushing myself to be better.

Without even knowing it, pushing myself, also pushed others around me.

That’s the thing about this journey, everyone wants to come along for the ride with you.

That’s what Crossfit is all about. Digging dip and supporting one another.

I’m a true believer of what they say, It is you against you.

Be the best version of yourself for the situation you are in.

That means working around injuries, work and life commitments, new additions to the family, whatever life might look like for you.

My passion is to help others with their journey and reaching new limits they didn’t think possible.

I want to dig deep and make this journey a fun and a memorable trip for our members.

 Tara s Qualifications include

  • CrossFit level 1 Trainer

  • CFMB coaches development program

  • blue card working with children

  • current first aid and CPR

Louise Barber // CrossFit Coach

Louise started CrossFit in 2017 and became addicted straight away. With a long history of mental health struggles, it was through CrossFit that she found a way to build herself up rather than break herself down. The benefits for her changed the course of her life for the better and that is why she is so passionate in coaching others so they too can break past their own individual limiting beliefs and start feeling like the inner superheroes that they are.

Growing up in South Australia, she moved over in 2022 to be closer to her partner's family and for a fresh start, that definitely happened when they welcomed the arrival of their first child Sasha at the end of that same year.

CrossFit Moreton Bay has been an extremely welcoming and accommodating community for her, from working out while pregnant with bubs to current days, offering her the opportunity to begin her own CrossFit coaching journey. She is very excited to continue on with this next chapter of her and her little family's life.

Louise Qualifications include

  • CrossFit level 1 Trainer

  • CFMB coaches development program

  • blue card working with children.

  • current first aid and CPR
